A strategic collaboration for the industry of the future

On May 16, Atsora officially launched a new collaborative research project in partnership with CIRTES (European Center for Research and Training in Machining and Additive Manufacturing Technologies).

This launch took place at the CIRTES premises, in the presence of major players in the industrial innovation ecosystem: Quai Alpha, Quest for Change, the CCI, and Bpifrance. This collective mobilization illustrates the strategic importance of digital transformation in machining workshops.

Project objective: to predict machining times using artificial intelligence

At the heart of this project: a key issue for manufacturers — the reliable prediction of machining times.

Today, estimates still largely rely on theoretical or empirical approaches, often far removed from the reality on the ground. By leveraging the machine data collected in real time, this project aims to take a decisive step forward.

The approach is based on:

  • the analysis of data directly from machine tools,

  • the use of machine learning,

  • the construction of predictive models capable of anticipating actual production times.

This predictive capability paves the way for much more precise and agile management of workshops.

A major advancement for small batch machining workshops

Workshops specialized in small and medium series are particularly affected.

In these environments, variability is high:

  • diversity of parts,

  • frequent changes in settings,

  • low repeatability of cycles.

Intelligent data exploitation allows for:

  • reliable estimates,

  • improved planning,

  • optimized machine usage,

  • reduced gaps between forecasts and actual production.

This is a structural evolution towards a data-driven management, much more representative of operational reality than traditional approaches.

CIRTES and Atsora: combining applied research and field expertise

This project is part of a synergy between:

  • applied research, led by CIRTES,

  • industrial and software expertise, led by Atsora.

The objective is clear: to transform machine data into a concrete lever for industrial performance.

This collaboration will allow for:

  • validating models in real conditions,

  • accelerating technology transfer,

  • offering solutions directly usable by industrials.

A clear vision: fully leverage the data from machine tools

In a context where machines generate increasing volumes of data, the challenge is no longer collection, but the intelligent valorization of this data..

This project is part of a broader dynamic:

  • digitalization of workshops,

  • emergence of smart manufacturing,,

  • integration of artificial intelligence into industrial processes.

The ambition is to go beyond traditional approaches by providing a detailed, contextualized, and actionable reading of production data.

A dynamic of innovation to follow.

This launch marks an important milestone, but above all, it is the starting point for in-depth work.

The next phases will focus on:

  • the development of predictive models,

  • testing in an industrial environment,

  • the industrialization of results.

This project illustrates a strong conviction: the competitiveness of workshops will depend on their ability to intelligently exploit their data.
